Victim to Warrior: 9 Years of Leadership and Enterprise

For nine years, Coram Leap Confronting Conflict’s Leadership and Enterprise Programme has worked with young people most at risk of being drawn into harmful conflict and violence in Lambeth and Southwark.

This event marks a milestone.

From Victim to Warrior celebrates the young people who have shaped the programme, and launches our independent impact evaluation, sharing what we have learned about what works in reducing violence and shifting social norms.

At a time when London’s rates of serious youth violence are at their lowest in more than two decades, this event explores the role that long-term, relationship-led youth work plays in creating lasting change.

“I went from shouting and screaming, to feeling heard, to placing boundaries and taking space for myself and to regulating my emotions. I stopped acting like a victim and focused on building myself to become a warrior.”

What the Afternoon Will Explore

• Personal stories of transformation from programme alumni
• Insights from graduates now leading and facilitating work themselves
• Findings from M2, the programme’s independent evaluators
• Reflections on how working within friendship groups helps shift norms around violence
• Perspectives from leading experts and practitioners in violence reduction

The Leadership and Enterprise Programme works differently. By collaborating with schools, youth organisations and communities, and engaging young people alongside their peer networks, it builds the skills, confidence and social support needed to break cycles of harmful behaviour and foster healthier choices.

This is a space to reflect, to learn, and to consider how collective effort contributes to meaningful change.
