Leap Confronting Conflict welcomes government’s pledge to address root causes of knife crime affecting young people

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, 11 SEPTEMBER 2024 – Leap Confronting Conflict welcomes the UK government’s renewed commitment to addressing knife crime among young people, as outlined during the recent summit at 10 Downing Street.

The prime minister’s pledge to “double down” on knife crime over the next decade and the coalition’s focus on stopping young people’s involvement in violent gangs aligns closely with Leap Confronting Conflict’s mission.

The summit was attended by prime minister Sir Keir Starmer, anti-knife crime campaigner Idris Elba, a coalition of experts, including police, technology companies, and victims’ families. This marks a major step towards a unified approach to protecting young people from violence.
